Our cadet scheme offers young people the opportunity to gain an insight into the police service in a co-ordinated and safe way.
It provides life skills and aims to build self-confidence, self esteem and enables young people to reach their full potential.
We aim to develop each cadet to maintain his or her volunteering role within the Isle of Man Constabulary and support any future aspiration, and encourage them to act as peer role models as they represent the Isle of Man Police
They assist the police by being at the heart of promoting community safety and crime prevention within the Island.
Cadets will be taught about the law, police procedures, drill, first aid and also learn about some of the specialist units within the police.
They will also get the opportunity to help Neighbourhood Policing Teams tackle local crime problems. At the age of 16 (after successfully passing relevant sections) Cadets are allowed to go out on patrol with selected officers – in a risk assessed way.
Cadets also represent the police at local community events, such as local fetes, bonfire displays etc.
Cadets will work towards obtaining their Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
